Kunal Ganbote, the son of Kaustabh Ganbote — one of the 26 victims of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack — expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Armed Forces and government following India’s deep-strike retaliation against terror camps in Pakistan, carried out under Operation Sindoor.
Speaking to ANI, Kunal said, “We all were waiting for such action to be taken, and we had this hope from the Indian government. The operation’s name is ‘Sindoor’ and I think it was named this way to respect women like my mother.”
Operation Sindoor, launched in the early hours of Wednesday, saw Indian forces destroy nine terror hideouts — four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir — targeting senior operatives of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the groups believed responsible for sponsoring terror attacks in India.
Across the country, families of the Pahalgam attack victims welcomed the decisive action. In Kanpur, the wife of slain businessman Shubham Dwivedi thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “This is the real tribute to my husband. Wherever he is, he will be at peace today,” she said.
Shubham’s father, Sanjay Dwivedi, echoed this sentiment, calling the strikes a source of renewed faith in the government. “The Indian military has destroyed the terrorism flourishing in Pakistan… My entire family has been feeling light since we heard this news.”
The joint operation — carried out by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force — was monitored personally by Prime Minister Modi throughout the night. All nine targets were confirmed destroyed using precision-guided munitions, according to official sources.
The Ministry of Defence described the action as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” stating no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also underscored the global implications of the attack, stating, “The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.”
Operation Sindoor was launched in direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national, and left several others injured.
